1. The short version
Some links on our websites, newsletters and social channels are affiliate or partner links. If you click one and make a purchase or sign up, we may receive a commission or referral fee from the vendor. This never changes the price you pay.
We disclose these relationships in line with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255) and equivalent advertising standards in other markets we publish in.
2. Types of commercial relationship
Revenue on our media properties can come from any of the following.
- Affiliate links: performance-based commission paid when a reader purchases or subscribes.
- Sponsored placements: a brand pays for a defined placement; the unit is labelled "Sponsored".
- Paid reviews and integrations: labelled "Paid partnership" and produced under an editorial brief.
- Referral fees: paid when we introduce a qualified client to a technology or service partner.
- Display and programmatic advertising: served by third-party networks and marked as advertising.
3. How we label
Disclosure appears before the first affiliate link — at the top of the article, in the newsletter header, or in the opening caption of a social post — not buried in a footer.
Individual affiliate links carry rel="sponsored nofollow" attributes where the platform allows, and sponsored units are visually distinguished from editorial content.
4. Editorial independence
Commission rates play no part in whether a product is covered or how it is rated. Coverage decisions are made by the editorial team against a published assessment rubric that weighs capability, reliability, support and total cost of ownership.
Advertisers do not receive pre-publication approval over editorial verdicts, and we decline placements that would require us to remove criticism or overstate results.
5. Agency clients and case studies
Where we describe results achieved for a client, that relationship is stated explicitly. Figures are drawn from the platforms named in the case study and reflect a specific account, market and budget. They are illustrative, not a forecast of your results.
6. What this means for you
You are never obliged to use our links. Navigating directly to a vendor gives you the same price and terms. If you prefer to support our research, using a disclosed affiliate link is a free way to do it.
